The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 final is set to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The playoffs will take place in either Lucknow or Kolkata. A source confirmed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to make a final decision.
“IPL final will be played in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Discussions are on to decide the hosts for play-offs with a divide between Lucknow and Kolkata as options. BCCI to decide soon between the two cities. While one section believes it should be Lucknow for being the new entrant, others believe Kolkata should also get important matches,” asper the sources.
As things stand at the moment, the likes of Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans have lodged the strongest of challenges for a top-four finish.
Teams like Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad have two wins in four matches each while the likes of Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are yet to win a single contest so far.
The 2022 season of IPL have so far witnessed 35 matches with newbie Gujarat Titans leading the points table with 12 points from seven games while five-time winners Mumbai Indians are yet to open their account after becoming the only team ever to lose all first seven games in an IPL season.
During the meeting, it was also decided that the three-team Women’s T20 Challenge will be held in Lucknow from May 24th to 28th.
