Between September 23, 2021, and April 7, 2022, Ajni police have filed a fraud complaint against two women for allegedly duping over 400 needy women out of Rs 22 lakh under the guise of providing them with employment.
Shradha Mozarkar (42), a resident of Budhwar Bazar, and Neha Juware (32), a resident of Somwari Quarters, are the defendants in the case.
Both women were from the Amravati and Wardha districts, according to authorities. They were formerly residing in the city and are now on the run.
Cops said that the accused had approached the complainant, Savita Shinde (50), a resident of Naik Nagar, and told her and three other women that they will provide them a job.
The accused had told the women that they will get 25,000 per month for packing around 150 packets of masala or chivda daily. The accused had also demanded a 500 registration fee from the women who later informed other women in their contact to get the job.
Senior PI of Ajni police station Sarin Durge claimed that many women were connected with the accused to get the job. “As the accused were demanding only 2500 for registration, around 400 women paid them around 2 lakh.”
Sources said, after collecting the money both the accused fled the city and without providing any jobs. Following which the women approached Ajni police station and filed the complaint.
Sources claimed that the victims in the case are likely to increase as the accused have also duped other women in different districts.
