The concluding function of Mines Safety fortnight of Directorate of Mines Safety and Western Coalfields Limited was held at WCL’s Saoner premises. The annual prizes relating to mine safety were distributed on the occasion.
Deputy Director General of Mines Safety, Western Region, Umesh Prasad Sinh, was the chief guest. WCL CMD Manoj Kumar presided.
Production of coal and safety of workers are complementary to each other. By using new technology safety of workers can be ensured, said Manoj Kumar. Referring to nine awards received by WCL for mines safety, he stated that facility for training for safety is available and should be understood properly.
Sinh appreciated the efforts made by WCL in coal production during Covid 19 pandemic. Our target is to achieve zero accident and keep every worker safe. Continuous training in this direction is essential. The workers should also be self-motivated to prevent accidents. The rules for safety must be followed honestly, he added.
The programme began with flag hoisting and lighting the Suraksha Jyoti. Tributes were paid to martyrs of WCL. A K Dixit, Director, Safety administered an oath of safety.
An exhibition related to safety measures was also organized. Floats and demonstrations were appreciated by the guests and visitors.
The employees, mines and regions were given awards for excellence in work and for following safety measures.
The next event for 2022 will be hosted by Pench region, which won the prestigious Sanyal Memorial Award.
