A massive crack has appeared in a structure adjacent to one of the pillars of Nagpur Metro’s Institution of Engineers station. This has cast doubt on Maha Metro’s construction quality, which is known for making lofty boasts about being world-class. It’s possible that the structure was once utilised as a storeroom.
The crack makes one question if the station’s pillars are safe. If the pillar is weak, Nagpurians travelling to the station on North Ambazari Road and those crossing beneath it will be in grave risk.
This is not the first time that poor quality of Nagpur Metro’s construction has because of this. At that time Maha Metro had offered lame excuses. Maha Metro spokesperson Akhilesh Halve however, tried to downplay the inci dent. “It is not a pillar but a temporary structure, which was to be removed. We will remove it by mid night,” he said.
