The prestigious Pulitzer awards for 2022 include Indians Adnan Abidi, Sanna Irshad Mottoo, Amit Dave and late Danish Siddiqui. Washington Post received the award for Public Service.

The award is considered the most prestigious in America in the field of journalism. Reuters photographer bagged the award posthumously. He died while covering Taliban insurgence in Afghanistan last year.
Washington Post was awarded for coverage of Donald Trump’s supporters’ agitation in the US Capitol. A special certificate is being awarded for the Ukrainian journalists covering the Russia-Ukraine war.
Miami Herald was awarded for coverage of the collapse of Condominium Hall, killing 98 persons, under Breaking News category. New York Times has bagged the award in three categories. Andria Eliot of New York Times was awarded the prize for the book ‘Invisible Child: Poverty, Survival and Hope in an American City’.
The Pulitzer award was introduced in the year 1917. Renowned publisher Joseph Pulitzer, who died in 1911 had mentioned in his will about starting the award. He had provided funds for starting a school in journalism in Columbia University and had provided funds for it. The award in his memory is considered to be the most prestigious in the world.
