Following the COVID waves and a lengthy strike by its employees, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) began running tourist buses from Ganeshpeth Bus Stand every Sunday and holiday at 8 a.m.
The bus service will begin on May 22. (Sunday). The MSRTC is unique in that it allows passengers to purchase tickets on the spot.
The buses will depart Nagpur at 7 p.m. and travel to Surabardi, Dhapewada, Adasa, Khindsi, Ramtek, and Dragon Palace. Previously, tickets could only be purchased online.
This is for the first time that the corporation is giv ing a spot booking facility to the passengers.
Sources informed that increase the numbers of the corporation will increase the number tourist buses as per the bookings.
Initially, bookings will be made for 44 passengers. But, the corpo ration will increase the number of buses if the bookings exceed.
The passengers had been demanding to resume tourists buses.
The corporation will charge 295 per passenger for travelling in tourist buses. Before October 2021, the per passenger fare was Rs 250. The fare for children between 5 and 12 years has also increased by Rs 10 to Rs 15.
