The bhoomipujan of administrative building of South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC) was performed in its premises in Civil Lines here on Friday.
Dr Vikas Mahatme, MP, R Vimal, District Collector, Dr Madhavi Khode, Divisional Commissioner, and Kanchan Gadkari, President of Sanskar Bharti, performed the bhoomipujan. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Surface Transport, was virtually present.
The State Government had handed over the existing building and piece of land to SCZCC in 1986 and since then it has been working in this building. It was also facing problems in the old building and hence it planned to construct new administrative building.
The new three-storeyed administrative building, involving an expenditure of Rs 6.17 crore, is expected to be completed in nine months.
On the occasion, Khadse brother, noted artistes from the city, presented a programme on Shenai that regaled the audience. Madhavi Palsokar presented Sharda song.
Nitin Gadkari while extending best wishes hoped that the construction work would be completed in the stipulated period and thanked Kishan Reddy and Pralhad Singh Patel, both Union Ministers for extending cooperation.
Prabhakar Thengdi, stage artiste, Mayank Tilak, Chief Engineer, CPWD, Dr Dipak Khirwadkar, Director, SCZCC, officers and staff members were present. Later, the guests planted saplings in the premises. Shweta Shelgaonkar conducted the programme while Dipak Patil, Administrative Officer, proposed a vote of thanks.
