Citizens are being inconvenienced by a sudden power outage in areas of the city. Due to an overburdening of the feeder, south Nagpur witnessed a two-hour power outage on Friday midnight.
After braving a sweltering 46 degrees Celsius during the day, the air didn’t cool down until late Friday night. Coolers and air conditioners were the only way to get a good night’s sleep. The unexpected power outage crushed that hope, keeping people in South Nagpur up for more than two hours.
Angry residents making frantic calls to the Mahadiscom customer Icare were told that the power supply had to be cut as an emergency measure to manage the excess load on the feeder.
Residents of Manewada, Mitra Nagar, New Balaji Nagar, and Kailash Nagar areas were found sitting outside their homes helplessly for over two hours. They were reported to have a horrible time due to the sudden and long interruption in the power supply. People heaved a sigh of relief after the power got restored at around 3am.
While MSEDCL on multiple occasions has said that power failures are occurring due increased load and technical faults, people are saying that the power distribution company shuts down power every now and then in the name of maintenance, then why technical faults.
