The bail applications of former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and Minister for Minorities Welfare Nawab malik have been rejected by the Bombay High Court.
Deshmukh and Malik had applied for one-day bail for voting on June 20, to elect Legislative Council members. This was the second blow to Nationalist Congress Party. Deshmukh and Malik, both NCP leaders are in jail facing charges of money laundering. Malik is also charged of terror funding and connection with underworld don Dawood Abrahim.
Both faced the same fate earlier, when they had applied for bail for Rajya Sabha polls. They had also stated in the application that they may be allowed to cast vote in police bandobast. The Enforcement Directorate having custody of Deshmukh and Malik had opposed the bail.
