Despite free COVID booster doses for everyone over the age of 18 on July 15, public interest is not as high as projected. Only 11,979 persons received the vaccines in the first five days. This is in stark contrast to the initial dose, when 10 to 12,000 people were poked per day. In reality, nearly 25,000 people had received the shots in a single day at the time.
Due to the conclusion of 75 years of independence, booster dosages will be provided free of charge for 75 days beginning July 15. Covishield is available to the public in Nagpur from Monday to Saturday. Every Saturday, children aged 12 to 15 years get immunised with Corbevax.
Covaxin is being given at seven vaccination centres including Government with Corbevax every Medical College and Hospital, and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital and Research Centre. Enthusiasm among youth: A total of 5,276 ben eficiaries between the age group of 18 and 44 got the third shot from July 15 to 19.
A total of 5,020 beneficiaries between the age group of 45 and 59 got the booster dose while only 1,683 in the age group of 60 and above got the third jab. Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) commissioner Radhakrishnan B has appealed to all the eligible people to get the vaccines.
