The Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has taken a serious cognizance of the atrocities committed to a woman from Sawartoli village in Bhandara district and ordered on Saturday to form Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the leadership of a woman IPS officer to conduct probe into it.
This serious incident is a blot to humanity and hence conduct investigation on fast track to arrest and punish the culprits so that no other person would dare to commit such a crime, said Shinde.
The Chief Minister has also talked to the Director General of Police and instructed to ensure that the physically exploited woman gets all the necessary treatment and expedite the case.
It may be mentioned here that the woman was going to her brother’s house after fight with her niece on July 31. One person – Sriram Urkude accosted her at Kamargaon village in Goregaon tehsil and assured her to take to the brother’s place. However, he took her to Palasgaon, raped and abandoned her near a forest patch by the side of the national highway.
It is reported that she anyhow reached Kanhalmoh village next day when two persons – Lukka Ashok Surve and Mohd Ejaj Mohd Ansari – misdirected her and committed atrocities on her. Police have arrested Survey and Ansari but the third person is still absconding. Police are making further investigation in the matter. Now, with the order issued by the Chief Minister the case will be cracked shortly.
