A tiger was killed when hit by a train in Chanakha beat in between Ballarshah and Kazipeth falling under Rajura Forst Range, Central Chanda Division.
The incident came to light on Wednesday in compartment no: 160 near Chanakha and Vihirgaon when a railway gangman was checking railway track. This is the 17th death of tiger in Maharashtra during the current year.
He immdiatley informed the Station Master and to forest officials at Rajura. Upon getting information, Amol Garkal, Asstt Conservation of Forest, Suresh Yelkevad , Range Forest Officer, Sanjay Jadhav, Round Officer, Naresh Deshkar, Sanjay Jadhav and others reached the spot for investigation. They made ‘panchnaama’ and called veterinary doctors there.
Earlier, similar incidents like killing tigers, sloth-bears, spotted deer and others by trains had occurred. Wildlife lovers have demanded mitigation measures in this sensitive section to avoid mishaps.
