An aged leucistic (white buck) was found dead in the herbivore safari spread in 45 hectares of land at Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoo on Sunday.
Shatanik Bhagwat, Managing Director, Gorewada zoo project, Dipak Savant, Curator, Vetenarian Dr Mayur Pawse along with staff of the zoo inspected the spot. They found that the white buck was aged and it kept away itself from the herd of white bucks. It used to move alone in the park. Therefore, Biologist DR Shubham Chhapekar was monitoring its movements.
However, it was found dead on Sunday morning. Dr Mayur Pawse conducted post mortem. As per preliminary estimate, the wild animal died due to old age. Later, mortal remains of the buck were consigned to flames in the premises of Gorewada Rescue Centre.
