The 20% tuition fee hike that had been planned for students beginning with the academic year 2022–2023 has been reversed by Rashtrasant Tukdoji Nagpur Maharaj University (RTMNU). Students were greatly relieved by the decision because it allows them to continue paying college fees according to the previous schedule.
After a protracted struggle by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, the NU decision was made (BJYM). The university’s choice was criticised from the beginning. Students from the Youth Congress (YC) and the National Students Union of India (NSUI) have also recently protested the fee increase.
Members of BJYM arrived at the university’s Ambazari campus and conducted protests after learning that the management council of the institution was scheduled to meet on Monday afternoon.
After that, the protesters barged into the room where the management council meeting was taking place. They demanded to address the cost increase inside the meeting room. They suggested that the system is just now beginning to get back on track following Covid. They advised that in this case, it would not be acceptable to raise the price and that it should instead be promptly removed.
