The State Government will give prizes to Ganesh Mandals promoting social messages by displaying scenes/floats on issues like environment, social harmony etc during ten-day Ganesh festival celebrations.
Such mandals should submit their applications to the website of Cultural Affairs Department: mahotsav.plda@gmail.com till September 2, appeals the administration. The first three best mandals in the State will get prizes of Rs 5 lakh, Rs 2.50 lakh and Rs 1 lakh. Prizes will also be given on district level.
The mandals should display scenes/floats on eco-friendly decoration, noise pollution free atmosphere, save water, removal of superstition, social harmony, freedom movement, sports competitions organised as well as holding blood donation camp, health camp, traditional/cultural programmes, activities done on social, educational and health fields for school/college students, girls and backward class in rural areas.
A committee under the presidentship of Collector would select the mandals on district level. The committee will consist of representatives of government and recognised art colleges, officer of Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, Health Officer and Police Officer.
