Renowned Hindusthani classical vocal singer Dr Usha Parkhi passed away at her son Rajiv’s residence in Abhyankar Nagar, on Saturday. She was 88. She was music teacher with S B City Mahavidyalaya.
Born in 1933 she was married to the late Balasaheb Parkhi, who was a renowned violinist. Usha Parkhi and her husband took lessons from Pandit Bhaiyyaji Wazalwar and later from Jagannathbuwa Purohit ‘Gunidas’ for a brief period.
A reputed teacher in classical music, she performed in India and abroad. She is survived by three sons Rajiv, Nitin and Abhin.
