Dr Sharad Pendsey, a senior diabetologist based in Nagpur passed away on Wednesday morning. Dr Pendsey with over three decades of experience in his field received training in Germany, Croatia and the UK.
He authored two books – Practical Management of Diabetes, and Diabetic Foot – A Clinical Atlas, and wrote several articles on the subject. He was the past President of the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India, President of the Diabetic Association of India, Nagpur Chapter, and a Member of the International Working Group on Prevention of Diabetic Foot. He won several awards and recognitions as Outstanding Young Person Maharashtra, Jaycees in 1993; RSSDI Presidential Oration Award, Goa in 1995; Senior Hoechst Oration Award, APL Lucknow etc.
Dr Pendsey was a mentor for a large number of upcoming diabetologists in Central India.
