After a dry spell for about two weeks, heavy rains lashed the city for half-an-hour on Wednesday evening, bringing relief to citizens from hot and humid atmosphere.
There was as good as a riot of lightings and thunderstorm in the sky, scaring the people by deafening sound. The people on roads and outside places were caught unaware due to sudden development and took shelter at the shops, buildings and sheds till the rains lasted. The rains also caused water-logging at various squares and streets.
When contacted, a farmer told The Live Nagpur that such much-needed rains after a long period provided a lease of life to crops. The leaves were withering due to hot climate in absence of rains, he said adding that there is now no need to provide water to crops by other means as they can sustain for some more days to come.
