Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in Vidarbha, Konkan west and North Maharashtra for the next four days (upto September 12). Therefore, Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister, has asked the district administrations concerned to keep their machinery and rescue teams ready to tackle any eventuality and providing security to the people.
Shinde said that it rained in cloud bursting like situation yesterday. States in the south side along with Maharashtra experienced heavy rains. Therefore, the administrations should keep NDRF and other rescue teams ready to overcome the then prevailing situation, Shinde pointed out.
Meanwhile, the department has issued yellow alert for all the 11 districts in Vidarbha region for rains accompanied by thunderstorm with lightning in the districts till September 12. According to the forecast, Chandrapur will receive heavy rainfall with thunderstorm and lighting on September 10 while Gadchiroli, Chandrapur and Gondia districts will receive heavy rains with thunderstorm and lighting on September 11. The department said that Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli would receive heavy rainfall with thunderstorm and lighting at isolated places on September 12.
