Nagpur Municipal Corporation took action against four hospitals in the city for improper disposal of biomedical wastes. NMC has been taking action under Swachh Bharat Mission. It has taken action against 12 establishments and recovered fine of Rs 2.50 lakhs from them.
Under Laxmi Nagar Zone Gastro Vision and Medigrace hospitals were punished, as NMC officials found biomendical wastes in garbage dumped near them. The hospitals were fined Rs 50,000 each.
Similarly under Dharampeth Zone Ortho Hospital and Respire Hospital in Ramdaspeth were also penalized for improper disposal of biomedical wastes
Lal Pathology on New Narsala Road was levied a fine of Rs 5,000 for littering garbage near the lab.
NMC has been taking action against those littering garbage, displaying lighting on trees, spitting on road, use of plastic, spreading construction material on road and hospitals disposing of biomedical wastes in improper manner .
Strict action is being taken as the rating of ZNMC slided, particularly in the garbage disposal category.
