A two-year imprisonment can be imposed on parents, Gramsevak, priests (all religion), cook, photographer and even those attending a child marriage.
Nagpur District Collector Dr Vipin Itankar has issued an order stating that all the persons mentioned above are required to prevent such kind of marriages, where the groom is below 21 years of age and the bride below 18 years. Itankar has issued fresh orders under Prevention of Child Marriage Act 2006,for its effective implementation. Preventing child marriage is responsibility of entire society. Those participating in its can be jailed for two years or fine up to Rs 1 lakh.
