In sync with NEP 2020, IIM Nagpur is focusing on holistic education and creating a conscious corporate culture. To align with this, IIM Nagpur has started a dedicated course in life management skills for the MBA Program– 2022-24.
Dr. Gauranga Dasji, Director, ISKCON Govardhan Ecovillage and governing body commissioner, ISKCON, will be associated with IIM Nagpur as a visiting faculty to teach life management skills to the students. This course is designed for future managers and business leaders to understand various dimensions of life and further their role in achieving the best for themselves, human society, and the overall ecosystem around us on these dimensions.
While addressing a press conference on Thursday, Dr.Gauranga Dasji pointed out that material or secular education is providing students the strength to fight the odds in the world. However, he needs spiritual education to help change his conscience which is extremely important for the complete well-being of today’s students. Today’s youth has lost all hope which is a matter of great concern, he added.
This course ties the knots of ancient wisdom to the modern management paradigm through lessons and activities that nourish and impart transformational decision-making and leadership skills to budding managers for their personal, corporate, and social life, he explained. The participants in the course will be able to understand the hierarchy of their life needs and prioritize them to channelize the best of their potential for holistic development and transformation.
“Unfortunately, religion has become synonymous with controversy. This approach has to change,” Dr. GaruangaDasji opined. It is my effort to make modern people understand ancient knowledge and how it will be relevant in today’s life. When there is harmony with self and nature only then can an individual be in harmony with society, he added. To achieve this, students have to be trained in a holistic education system. “IIM Nagpur’s effort to conduct courses in life management skills for MBA students is an effort towards establishing a holistic education system,” he said.
Dr. Garuanga Dasji pointed out that the new education policy is very well worked and I really appreciate the fact that spiritual teachings have been given weightage. “NEP 2020 has been based on the Indian knowledge system. It has been designed to ensure that the younger generation benefits fromancient Indian wisdom. This training will help the students balance intellectual, spiritual, and civic values, informed Dr.Bhimaraya Metri, Director IIM Nagpur, while interacting with the media.
After completing this course, the participants should be able to understand present-day life paradigms and the need for having a differentiating lens of ancient wisdom to manage these paradigms for a satisfied yet successful personal, corporate and social life. They are expected to develop a practical perspective through situational analysis, case and class discussions, decision-making analysis, the role of knowledge of ancient wisdom, and its value in managing life well.
