A forest official confirmed the death of a 75- year old man, killed by a tiger in the forest of Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district on 5th November, Saturday 2022.
Jagan Panse, the resident of Lakhapur village, had ventured into the forest area to collect firewood on Friday and did not return home.
The body was found in the forest this morning. The officials added that the body was sent to the hospital later this morning for a post-mortem.
An initial compensation of Rs 20,000/- has been given to the family of Panse.
According to the officials, two persons were killed in the man-animal conflicts in the area in the past month.
A woman was killed by a tiger in Torgaon, ( Buj) village, under the north Brahmapuri Forest Range on Thursday.
Villagers have also urged the forest department to take preventive measures to avoid such attacks. This was reportedly the fourth incident of man-animal conflict in the past two months.
