A rise in the number of dengue patients in the city has been observed since the month of September and October. The number increased to 22 during the first three weeks of November.
After the rainy season, the winter chill was expected to reduce the number of dengue patients to the baseline. The dengue outbreak is expected to stay for some time.
According to NMC health department data, 10 dengue cases were reported in both July & August this year. There was a rise in the dengue cases in the month of September to 24 and to 25 in October as rains continued.
Winter started in the month of November but still, there were 22 cases of dengue reported till November 24.
No death has been reported in the city due to dengue this year. The test positivity rate increased in November to 12% from 8% in October.
