During the territorial fight between two tigers in the Nagbhid forest area, Brahmapuri forest range, one adult male tiger lost his life to death.
The incident came to the notice during the patrolling by forest guards Huma and PRT Kitali in no: 643 on December 7, 2022, at 9:00 am.
As soon as the guards were notified about the incident, the Forest Officer, Field Staff, and Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (wildlife). His representative Vivek Karambakar, Honorary Wildlife Warden, Brahmapuri, National Tiger Conservation Authority Representative, Bandu Dhotare, Former Honorary Wildlife Warden, Chandrapur, visited the spot to inspect immediately.
As per the National Tiger Conservation Authority, the entire area within 500 meters of the spot was checked. At a distance of 100 meters from the incident site, there were footprints and blood of two tigers were found. The teeth and marks on its neck and its flanks were eaten probably by scavengers and all other organs like claws, teeth, whiskers, etc were intact.
The body marks on the dead tiger and with the organs intact post-death, it was evident to the officials that the cause of the death of the tiger was due to a territorial fight with another tiger.
The entire post-mortem process was completed on spot between 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. After the post-mortem, the dead tiger was cremated at 5:40 pm in presence of all the officials.
