The case of the sensational death of a young male tiger in Panna, MP has come to the light. The tiger died due to hanging in the trap of a tree. A prima facie case when a hunter put a wire trap to kill the tiger.
The carcass was about 4-5 days old, and although the incident was reported to the forest department on December 6, 2022,, an attempt was made to hide and suppress the matter completely. This is for the very first time that a tiger died due to hanging. Sanjeev Jha, CCF Chhatarpur is investigating the whole incident and has further given instructions to the forest officials.
Sanjeev Jha added that this case initially seems to be hunting but they are investigating all aspects. A Dog Scott of Dr. Sanjeev Gupta Tiger Reserve and a dog squad of Satna district have also been called. Jha commits that no hunter or person responsible for the incident will be spared.
Dr. Sanjeev Gupta did the post-mortem of the tiger and tried to know the cause of the death in depth. Gupta has been working with tigers at Panna Tiger Reserve for a long time. No media person was allowed on the spot unless the tiger’s body was taken to the ground. The body of the deceased was rotten completely from behind and smelled very bad as the officials of the forest came to know about the tiger’s death very late.
Continuous reporting of the tiger death at Panna Tiger Reserve is pointing towards the presence of poachers, which is a major concern to the officials and a major threat to wildlife.
