Burglary and theft cases have escalated in Nagpur and other state cities during the Covid-19 outbreak. In the two years after 2020, the graph of theft incidents has risen, but police have also been successful in finding the majority of the cases of loot and burglary.
But despite this, every family needs to take certain security precautions before leaving the city in light of the theft instances in order to prevent these kinds of occurrences.
In 2020, there were 687 burglaries and 157 thefts reported before the Covid-19 pandemic. But the number of burglaries and theft cases increased the following year.
In view of the increasing incidents of theft and burglary, most of the citizens should install CCTV cameras in their houses. In such a situation, it will help identify f the accused roaming around d with an intention to commit theft. If any family is going out of the city for two to three go days, they should inform neighbours and they should also inform the concerned V police station.
Deputy commissioner of crime branch (detection) Mummka Sudarshan said if 0 any family has to go out of S the city for two-three days then they should inform the neigh- bours and police station of y the area. Neighbours also re- main alert seeing any activity e near the locked house.
