Samruddhi Expressway was driven by more than 3.54 lakh cars in the previous month, generating Rs 20 crore in revenue for Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). This equates to around 12,000 vehicles per day.
Presently, the highway utilizes Aurangabad to connect Nagpur to Shirdi. MSRDC officials anticipated that when it expanded up to Mumbai, traffic would significantly increase. On the other hand, 263 accidents, including 10 that resulted in death, happened on the highway as a result of speeding. The remaining 253 injuries involving humans were minor due to animal contact. Officials at MSRDC acknowledge that numerous measures have been taken to reduce the frequency of traffic accidents and fatalities.
There are 15 quick response vehicles equipped with first aid supplies, oxygen cylinders, a hydraulic jack, and a firefighting system on the highway. If accident victims need rapid medical assistance, the quick response vehicle team is linked to local hospitals.
In addition to the ten districts through which the Expressway passes, there are 15 ambulances altogether. Three shifts comprising twelve vehicles each patrol the roadway twice.
On Samruddhi, more than 120 security personnel have been deployed. Moreover, there are 12 highway police patrols. Furthermore, twelve cranes with a 30-tonne capacity have been utilized to tow away wrecked cars after accidents.
