Ahead of Makar Sankranti, the police have initiated an active campaign against nylon Manja and have busted numerous stores. Police have begun filing complaints against people who fly kites with the Nylon Manja. A 21-year-old was caught while flying a kite on the Nylon Manja in the Kapil Nagar Police Station’s jurisdiction.
The youth is identified as Ankit Chandrashekhar Pande. The 21-year-old is a Yogi Nagar resident. The youth was using the Nylon Manja to fly the kite on open ground at the Rural RTO. The young person was still found flying the kite with the Nylon Manja when the police arrived.
Despite citywide police action against the lethal Nylon Manja, it was discovered that it was being marketed illegally just outside the Tehsil police station. In this regard, police reportedly detained two youngsters and seized from them the prohibited Manja worth Rs 2.10 lakh.
The arrested accused are Wasim Sheikh (20), a resident of Mahal, and Rahul Rajedhar (18), a resident of Gandhibagh. Rahul resides in front of the Tehsil police station, according to the information. His grandfather was a transporter. Students who purchase Manja from Rahul and Wasim benefit from their friendship and connections with them.
The duo has been busted selling Manja over the past two years. The duo reportedly kept their Manja stock at a go-down in a housing complex in front of the Tehsil police station.
Unit 5 of the crime branch received a tip regarding their illicit behavior in the meantime. Police had sent the accused a fake customer. Rahul sold two spools for Rs 1,600 and told the fake customer to meet near the godown for the delivery. Police detained the suspects as they handed the buyer the two spools. The cops discovered 200 spools worth lakhs of rupees while inspecting the go-down.
