In Nagpur, Maharashtra, over the course of a year, a man was allegedly arrested for raping the 12-year-old daughter of his live-in partner, police said on Sunday. According to them, the 37-year-old accused lives in the city’s Wathoda area.
“Since October 2022, the accused had shared a residence with his live-in partner, a 32-year-old woman, and her daughter from the first marriage. He began harassing the child sexually whenever her mother left for work “an official of the city’s Hudkeshwar police station said.
He indulged in the crime for the past one year and threatened the victim of dire consequences, due to which she did not reveal about it to anyone, he said.
However, the girl recently found the courage to tell her mother about the incident, and as a result, they went to the police and reported him, he continued.
A case of rape and criminal intimidation was registered against the accused under Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
