The action-thriller Pathaan starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham is just hours away from hitting theatres, and fans are giddy with anticipation. Tickets for Siddharth Anand’s film starring SRK are flying off the shelves in many Indian cities, setting a record for the year in advance sales. Sacnilk, an industry tracking company, reports that the movie sold tickets worth more than Rs 23 crore on day one and Rs 13.3 crore on day two. Total pre-sales are over Rs 50 crore, with other days accounting for Rs 13.9 crore. Over 100 nations will watch the movie when it will release.
Beginning with the first day of advance sales on January 20, Pathaan has already sold more than 4 lakh tickets. National multiplex chains like PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis have accounted for 4.19 lakh tickets on day one, which is the most for 2023 thus far and the third-largest ever, claims trade expert Taran Adarsh.
The movie Pathaan has higher advance sales than both Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff’s War (2019) and Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Thugs of Hindostan (2018). Only KGF: Chapter 2 and Baahubali 2 in Hindi dub are ahead of it.

In a statement, Sanjay Bijli, joint managing director of PVR, said, “We have a phenomenal opening of ‘Pathaan,’ with advances of close to 5 lakh admissions for the first long weekend of the movie’s release on January 25. This will be the first SRK movie to debut at 6 a.m. in PVR theatres. We are noticing a growing preference to watch this movie in our premium formats like IMAX, ICE, 4DX, and P [XL]. It was truly made for the big screen experience. The film has had a strong start outside of South India, where it is being released in Tamil and Telugu.
