On January 26, 2023 IIM Nagpur celebrated 74th Republic Day by tracing the advancements made by India under the leadership of the Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In front of the administrative team, faculty, and students, Dr. Metri raised the Tricolor at the beginning of the event. Lt Col Makarand V Alur (Retd), the chief administrative officer of IIM Nagpur, was present.
“As G20 host, India is going to make a mark with regard to strengthening governance on all major international economic issues,” Dr. Metri said. The world would look at India for values, leadership, research, and development, he added. Highlighting the progress achieved by IIM Nagpur, Dr. Metri informed that the institute was in an expansion mode, with the government promising to provide around 50 acres of land to establish a full-fledged campus in Pune and a satellite campus in Goa. IIM Nagpur has grown horizontally and vertically in the last seven years.
Dr. Metri expressed his appreciation for the contributions made by the entire IIM Nagpur community and noted that as a result of their invaluable work, the institute has emerged as a national model for educational institutions. IIM Nagpur will become one of the nation’s top institutions with this level of dedication. He stated that IIM Nagpur has already received recognition from the Indian Ministry of Education as an elite institution. In addition, Dr. Metri noted that the Maharashtra government had chosen IIM Nagpur to host the esteemed Chief Minister’s Fellowship Program for the upcoming academic year. He declared that the InFED programme at IIM Nagpur had been chosen for funding through the Atal Innovation Mission.
Following the official flag hoisting, the MBA students of the institute presented a cultural programme. The students performed a skit in which they conveyed the idea that rights come with obligations. Through a variety of performances, students presented patriotic songs and highlighted the cultural diversity of India. Dr. Metri also mentioned the Chief Minister’s Fellowship Program for the upcoming academic year. He announced that the Atal Innovation Mission had selected IIM Nagpur’s InFED for funding.
