CENTUNES was initiated by Centre Point Group of Schools in 2005 and it has always aimed at unleashing the hidden musical talent among students of schools across the city. As CENTRE POINT SCHOOL, WARDHAMAN NAGAR is the organiser and participant of this event, it has also been a treat to have every nook and corner of the school echoing with lilting voices and melodious strains for the past few weeks.
This year the competition was held in 3 phases from 19th to 21st January 2023. The first one was the Hindi Solo singing competition which was held online on 19th January. Participants from all over the country were encouraged to take part in it and after a tough competition the winners were declared as such; the first prize was won by Anushree Kelkar from Bharti Krishna Vidya Vihar, Nagpur, the second prize was won by Siya James of Montfort School, Nagpur, third prize was bagged by Omkar Kanitkar of Euro School, Thane and the mostpromising singer award was swept away by Sanskriti Jichkar of Ira International School, Nagpur. The competition was judged by TilottamaIngle Suryawanshi from Latur and Amruta Kiran Joshi from Navi Mumbai.
On 20th January, Hindi duet and choir rounds for Junior category was held at the CPS WN premises. With Director Principal Shilpee Ganguly as the special guest, it was an absolute pleasure to see the young faces sing their hearts out during this competition. Around 21 schools had participated for this event and the prizes for the duet round are as follows: the first prize was bagged by the crooners of Centre Point School, Wardhaman Nagar, the second prize was taken by Ira International School and the third prize was won by Jain International School.
The choir round also saw good competition with Centre Point School, Wardhaman Nagar bagging the first prize once again, followed by Centre Point School, Amravati Bypass winning the second place and BVM, Trimurti Nagar snaring the third position.
This competition was judged by Mr. Vikas Gupta, Mr. Vishal Jain and Ms. Jyostasna Tayde.
21st of January saw the culmination of this music-filled week where 11 participating schools crooned away to glory during the English Duet and Choirround held specially for the senior school students. Judged by Mr. Ashish John, Mr. Anant Samuel Waghmare and Mr. Manish Jaiswal, the event delivered more than what was promised. The talented young singers impressed everyone with their vocal skills and held the audience captivated. The winners for the duet as well as the choir were as follows: first prize was won by Centre Point School, Wardhaman Nagar, second prize was earned by Centre Point School, Amravati Bypass and the third prize was bagged by Centre Point School, Katol Road.
The combined score of both the days’ events resulted in Centre Point School, Wardhaman Nagar winning the overall rolling NKP SALVE trophy for CENTUNES. The list of participants is as follows:

Musicians: Sarthak Kankariya and Ranjit Goenka.
As prizes, gift vouchers for books were awarded to the winners. Some of the prizes were also sponsored by the elite TORRINS group.
The hardworking mentors behind this feat are the talented teachers of the music department. Namely, Mr. Alvin Gaikwad, Mr. Sanjay Taywade, Mr. Harshit Singh and Mr. Milind Upadhyay. They were heartily congratulated for bringing home such a wonderful result.
In conclusion, the Principal Mrs. Kanchan Ukeythanked all the participating schools for their encouragement towards music and training their students so well for this event.
