Recently, the city police’s Social Service Branch (SSB) discovered a prostitution ring operating out of a hotel in Manish Nagar and detained Vicky Padamwar, 30, an Ashirwad Nagar resident. A 21-year-old aspiring model who was coerced into becoming a call girl has been rescued by police.
Vicky reportedly lives with his maternal grandmother and has been unemployed for a considerable amount of time. Ever since the Covid-induced lockdown, he has been active in the flesh trade.
Earlier, he used to rent his room to friends for 2500 for a few hours, and later got involved in the prostitu- tion business. The survivor, a B Com student, hails from Madhya Pradesh. She has par- ents and younger siblings and wanted to become a model. She came in contact with some people from Nagpur.
She started coming to the city for photo shoots. Meanwhile, a year ago, she got acquainted with a female student in Jaitala. As it is, she was facing a financial crunch as she was not getting paid enough for her photo shoots. The girl from Jaitala lured her into flesh trade by claiming she would make a lot of money. The Jaitala girl introduced her to Vicky.
The girl started working for Vicky. She used to come to the city on pretext of photo shoots and was working on the directions of Vicky. SSB PI Shubhangi Wankhede learnt about the prostitution racket and later sent a dummy customer. A deal for 28,000 was made with Vicky. Cops later laid a trap and arrested Vicky from Hotel Destiny in Manish Nagar.
