On March 4, Jan Mitra Day will be celebrated by MSEDCL in the Maharashtra in recognition of the work of lineman who ensure the continuous supply of electricity. MSEDCL supplies electricity to 2.89 crore consumers in the state. 74.6 percent of the consumers are households, 15.5 percent are farmers with agricultural pumps, 7.2 percent are commercial consumers, 1.6 percent are industrial consumers, 1.2 percent are consumers from other categories. These consumers are supplied with electricity through 4,093 Sub Stations, 8.09 lakh distribution lines, 3.84 km of high pressure lines and 6.76 km of low pressure lines.
More than 75 thousand technical and non-technical employees are working in MSEDCL. But in MSEDCL, the percentage of technical staff is the highest at 70 percent. Most of them are linemen who work round the clock on the field.
This lineman plays a very important role in providing the best service to the consumers of MSEDCL. This lineman has regular contact with the general customers. When the electricity supply of the customers is stopped, the work is done to restore the electricity supply only through this lineman. While doing this, the lineman cannot exhibit weakness or emotions in the face of the scorching heat of summer, the freezing winter or the continuous rain of monsoon, nor can he delay the repair of electricity due to such problems. Like other essential services such as medical services, police department, fire service, in fact the linesman of MSEDCL carries out his duty honestly.
