The 95th Academy Awards are finally here, and with India scoring three nominations in total (in the categories of Best Documentary Short, Best Documentary Feature Film, and Best Original Song), fans are excited to know how India fares at the Oscars 2023.
Multiverse-traversing Everything Everywhere All at Once has emerged as a favorite with 11 nominations, while Irish dark comedy The Banshees of Inisherin and World War I drama All Quiet on the Western Front has received 9 nominations each.
While RRR song ‘Naatu Naatu’ was nominated in the Best Original Song category, Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes had been nominated in the Best Documentary Feature Film segment, and Kartiki Gonsalves-directed The Elephant Whisperers scored one in the Best Documentary Short category.
Both RRR song ‘Naatu Naatu’ and the documentary All That Breathes had earlier been pitched as favorites to win the coveted golden statuette. SS Rajamouli’s directorial RRR had especially won over the Western audience after gaining steam online since its Netflix appearance globally. Meanwhile, All That Breathes had won all the top prizes at various international film festivals, including Cannes Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival.
Check out the complete winner’s list of Oscars 2023. The winners of the 95th Academy Awards have been marked in bold.
