City police have arrested a man who allegedly committed fraud by selling two cars for Rs 16 lakhs by giving fake documents and the owner of a Xerox center who prepared the fake documents.
According to police, the complainant, Aman Dhariwal (27), a resident of Chowni, owns a shop called Dhariwal Jewelers in Sadar. On November 22, 2022, Mamta Gupta whom Aman knew from several years, came to the shop. She told Aman that her son Mohit (24) was selling cars. So, Aman called Mohit to his shop.. He made a deal to sell a Maruti car to Dhariwal for 8 lakhs and delivered him the car and its documents. Dhariwal paid 7 lakh in cash and 1 lakh online to Mohit.
However, Mohit had already sold a car to one Pratik Kale for 9.40 lakh using a fake RC book. As soon as Kale learnt about it, he filed a complaint with police.
So the Sitabuldi police confiscated the original documents of the car. Then on November 29, Mohit sold the second Creta car to Dhariwal for 8 lakhs saying that he was in need of the money. But this car was also found to be in the name of one Puran Singh Udasi. Thus accused Mohit Gupta sold two cars for 16 lakhs by giving fake documents and cheated Dhariwal.
