In a bid to gain practical knowledge and exposure in the field of Life Sciences and environmental science, 50 students along with faculty members from Seth Kesarimal Porwal College Kamptee recently visited the CSIR- NEERI (National Environmental Engineering Research Institute) in Nagpur. A group of B.Sc. students, visited CSIR NEERI Nagpur on March 20, 2023, and were greeted by the senior officials and staff members of NEERI.
The visit was aimed at providing the students with an opportunity to explore the research and development activities being carried out at CSIR NEERI Nagpur. The students were amazed to see the state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure available at the research center. They were able to witness the ongoing research work in fields such as water pollution, air pollution, Energy generation, Green highway techniques, solid waste management, Waste water technology and environmental biotechnology.
The visit was highly informative and provided the students with an opportunity to learn about the latest developments in environmental science. During their visit, the students were given a detailed of the institute’s facilities and laboratories, where they had the opportunity to observe and learn.
The students were given a guided tour of the laboratories like waste water technology division (WWTD), Technology park (EBGD), Environmental Virology cell (EVC) and Harit Sangrahalaya by the staff members.
The faculty members accompanying the students expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to witness first-hand the innovative work being done by NEERI in the field of environmental science and Life Sciences. He said that such visits not only provide a platform for students to learn about the latest developments in science and technology but also inspire them to pursue careers in research and development.
The students, too, were enthusiastic about the visit and said that it had been an enriching experience for them. They also pleased to Dr. Vinay Chavan, Principal of Seth Kesarimal Porwal College Kamptee for organizing the visit and providing them with an opportunity to learn from the experts in the field of environmental science.
The faculty member Dr. ShaliniChahande Head department of Biochemistry, Mr. Suraj Kombe, Assistant Professor department of Microbiology and Dr. SachinYerpude expressed their gratitude to NEERI for hosting them and hoped to have more such opportunities in the future.
The visit was a part of the college’s efforts to provide their students with practical exposure to the various fields of study. Overall, the visit was deemed a success and was an excellent opportunity for the students and faculty members to witness the practical application of the knowledge they had gained in their academic pursuits.
