A drunk passenger, a Swedish national, allegedly molested a 24-year-old IndiGo cabin crew member mid-flight on the Bangkok-Mumbai flight. The incident is the latest in a series of unruly behaviour incidents on flights in recent months.
The drunk passenger allegedly misbehaved with the air hostess while she was serving meals. The situation deteriorated when the cabin crew informed the 63-year-old passenger that there was no food on-board the plane.
On Thursday, the incident occurred on the four-hour Bangkok-Mumbai 6E-1052 Indigo Flight. Klas Erik Harald Jonas Westberg was identified as the passenger.
According to the reports, the passenger grabbed the air hostess’ hand when she attempted to collect payment from the passenger for a dish that was available. When the crew member objected, he allegedly stood up and molested the air hostess, according to the woman’s statement to Mumbai police.
The accused, who was forced to return to his seat after the air hostess screamed, allegedly stood up again and abused other passengers and flight crew members.
Following the incident, the cabin crew informed the captain, and the accused was arrested upon his arrival at Mumbai International Airport. On Friday, he was reportedly produced before the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate Court and granted bail after posting a Rs 20,000 surety.
This was the eighth reported case of an unruly passenger mid-flight in the last three months.
