NCERT has made changes in the history books of Standard XII. The chapters related to the Mughal Empire have been removed. This will result in changes in the syllabus of all the boards including CBSE, UP and other state boards, which follow the NCERT pattern.
The revised syllabus will be implemented from the academic year 2023-24. From the ‘Themes of Indian History Part-II’ chapters and topics related to ‘Kings of Chronicles: The Mughal Courts (C 16th and 17thCenturies’ have been removed. In addition, changes have also been brought about in the Civis curriculum. Chapters such as ‘US hegemony in world politics’ and ‘Ths cold war era’ have been removed, while ‘Rise of popular movements’ and ‘ra of one-party dominance’ chapters have been removed from the ‘Politic in India since Independence’ book.
NCERT has also revised the curriculum for Std X and XI by omitting certain books. From the Std XI books ‘Themes in World History’, chapters like ‘Central Islamic lands’, ‘Confrontation of cultures’, and ‘The industrial revolution’ have been removed.
Chapters on ‘Democracy and diversity’, ‘Popular struggles and movements’, and ‘Challenges to democracy’ have been dropped from the Std X book ‘Democratic politics-II’.
