A sea swimming adventure campaign called “Mahaswim” will be held on April 13 by JD Sports Foundation, National Institute of Swimming, Open Water Sea Swimming Coaching Mumbai, and Nagpur District Amateur Swimming Association.
The 16 km swim from the Gateway of India to Elephanta Cave will feature 150 swimmers from the state and the nation’s National Institute of Swimming. This will be India’s largest sea swimming expedition as the swimmers taking part will swim the 16 km distance in relay fashion.
Swimmers’ entry fees have been covered by the JD Sports Foundation. Swimmers have to pay for their lodging, meals, and travel, according to Jayant Duble, secretary of the JD Sports Foundation and a professional sea swimmer.
Interested female and male swimmers in the age range of 10 to 60 years who have completed at least 30 minutes of non-stop swimming practise can register on April 5 by 1 p.m. using the accompanying QR code.
A selection test of 30 minutes of non-stop swimming for registered swimmers will be held on April 7. Test time venue, important instructions and further detailed information to the registered swimmers will be given to the swimmers on April 6.
