A mini version of Vande Bharat Express trains is likely to be introduced this month, on routes that have less occupancy. These smaller trains will have eight coaches instead of regular 16. Nagpur-Bilaspur is likely to get the first smaller Vande Bharat semi-high-speed train.
Besides Nagpur-Bisalpur, New Delhi-Andaura is the second route on which a lower turnout was experienced. The average occupancy of 99.97 per cent suggests that the rains are popular among Indian travellers. The data provided by the Indian Railways suggest that five of the eight pairs of trains are completely full.
Bilaspur-Nagpur has the lowest occupancy among the first eight trains, with 55 per cent occupancy. The data shows that the Gandhinagar-Mumbai route had the greatest occupancy at 126.67 per cent. Since its inauguration in February 2019, the first Vande Bharat Express has seen 121.51 occupancy toward Delhi and 125.89 per cent on the return trip. The average occupancy between Bilaspur and Nagpur, New Delhi and Amb Andura (Himachal Pradesh), Chennai Central, and Mysuru junction was 55 percent, 70 per cent, and 75 per cent respectively.
