With as many as 15 Vande Bharat Express trains now operating in various areas of the country, the Minister of Railways is now working on a plan to connect major cities across short distances via a metro rail network.
In an interview with the media, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the train will be ready by December 2023. “Vande Metro is being built with the idea that trains can run at a very high frequency, four or five times a day, in cities with distances of less than 100 kilometres, making it very comfortable and affordable.”
He also added that the plan to run Vande Bharat Metro was prepared based on Vande Bharat’s response, and that it will allow job seekers and students to enjoy world-class transportation from one city to another while saving time.
“Along with this, it will also help in reducing the pressure of congestion on local trains”, he informed.
“In the last nine years, Prime Minister Modi has made many sectors a hub of exports,” the Railways Minister added, referring to the creation of a High-speed Test Track for the first time to speed up the construction of high-speed trains. Whether it is defence, information technology, or electronics, India has emerged as a major exporter in all industries.”
He stated that building testing tracks is critical for India to become a large exporter of rail roads.
“The test track is made up of several facilities where the train and signalling system are tested on various parameters.” The work on the test track is moving quickly. It will be quite beneficial. Today, Vande Bharat is much debated, and India will emerge as its exporter in the future years. To accomplish this, all testing must take place on the test track,” he stressed.
The project includes a mainline (23 km) , a High-speed loop at Gudha (13 km), an Accelerated testing loop at Nawa (3 km) and a curve testing loop at Mithri (20 km) .
