Gadchiroli police held a Naxalite activist on Tuesday. He was involved in the killing of eight people, including two policemen.
Sadhu alias Kalya alias Sanjay Narote (31) was held in Hachbodi forest in Etapalli taluka on the Maharashtra-Chhatisgarh border. Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police Nilotpal informed that Sadhu Narote is an important Naxal activist. His interrogation could reveal important information about Naxalite activities.
Technical Counter-Offensive Campaign (TCOC) against Naxalites is implemented during February and May. During this period the Naxalites also attack police camps, steal their arms and cause damage to their property and even kill them.
Based on a tip police acted with the help of the Gatta (J) police station and held Narote. The action was taken under the guidance of SP Nilotpal, Additional SPs Anuj Tare, Kumar Chinta, and Satish Deshmukh.
A total of 23 offences are registered against Narote, which include involvement killing of two policemen, eight murders, two burning, and a dacoity. Prize money of Rs 2 lakh was announced on his head.
Sadhu Narote joined Gatta Dalam in 2015 and decided to leave the movement. He was working from home from March 28, 2023.
