As part of the ongoing Amrit Mahotsav celebrations of Independence, a fashion show titled “Saree – Ek Dharohar” was held at Central Vista, India Gate, New Delhi. The South Central Zone Cultural Center (SCZCC) of Nagpur organised the event to promote and preserve India’s saree culture.
Students from Nagpur’s Nikalas Women’s College showcased various sarees, including the Najakat-Karvatkathi saree and the Virasat-Nagpuri saree. The program also featured four dance performances and four rounds of showcasing. Dr. Rajashree Bapat provided a detailed introduction to kick off the program. The first round highlighted the beauty of the Najakat-Karvatkathi saree, symbolizing the festivities and prosperity of Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region. It also featured the renowned silk-based Kosa sarees, popular in both national and international markets.
With a tremendous turnout of art enthusiasts, the event successfully showcased the artistry and heritage of sarees, highlighting the craftsmanship involved.
