The second phase of Balasabheb Thackeray Samruddhi Mahamarg is likely to be opened on May 26.
The second phase of the Nagpur-Mumbai Highway will be from Shirdi to Nashik. The travellers will be able to travel on the way from Nagpur to Bharvir in Nashik within six hours. The work on Shirdi and Bharvir in the Nashik district has been completed. The second phase will be inaugurated in the presence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The distance between Shirdi and Nashik can be traversed within 40 to 45 minutes.
The work on the remaining part of the super highway from Bharvir and Mumbai, about 200 Km is in progress. The work on the Shirdi-Bharvir of 80 km has been completed.
Shirdi to Bhiwandi is a difficult construction as it has 12 tunnels and 16 small bridges. The patch between Igatpuri and Amne village in Bhiwandi will be opened last. The work on the last phase is likely to be completed by December end.
