Veteran actor Gufi Paintal, known for his portrayal of ‘Shakuni mama’ in the iconic TV series ‘Mahabharat,’ passed away on Monday in Mumbai at the age of 79. He was admitted to a hospital in Andheri, where he breathed his last at around 9 am.
Gufi Paintal’s nephew, Hiten, confirmed the news and stated that the actor peacefully passed away in his sleep. Survived by his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchild, the final rites will be conducted today at a crematorium in Andheri at approximately 4 pm. Gufi Paintal’s extensive career included notable roles in TV shows and films, such as ‘Bahadur Shah Zafar,’ ‘Kanoon,’ ‘Om Namah Shivay,’ and ‘RadhaKrishn.’ He gained immense popularity through his manipulative uncle character in BR Chopra’s “Mahabharat,” becoming a household name. His last appearance was in the TV series ‘Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki.’
