The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Anil Chauhan, visited Solar Industries’ subsidiary, Economic Explosives Ltd. (EEL), in Nagpur, where he watched a demonstration firing of the indigenous 30mm ammunition being supplied to the Indian Navy. he also observed a test firing of the smallest rocket motor currently under development at EEL, which will enhance the Counter Drone System’s capabilities with both hard kill and soft kill functions.
The CDS was also shown the lethality test of the warhead for the recently developed Loitering Munition System.
During his tour, the CDS received an overview of EEL’s facilities related to manufacturing, performance testing, environmental testing, shelf-life assessment, and integration of various munitions. He commended the company’s contributions towards Atmanirbhar Bharat in the field of ammunition and defence systems.
The Chairman of Solar Group, Satyanarayan Nuwal, also apprised the CDS about the group’s contributions to the development, manufacturing and supply of industrial explosives, military explosives and other high energy materials. Since its entry into the defence system in 2010, facilities have been established at EEL for development, manufacturing and testing of modern grenades, mines, air bombs and a wide range of munitions.
The company also successfully established the production and integration facilities of all variants of Pinaka Rockets for supply to the Indian Army as well as for exports to friendly nations.
General Anil Chauhan also interacted with the scientists and engineers at the company. The CDS stressed the need for the private industry to keep pace with the rapid advancements in defence technologies, particularly in developing force multipliers to counter threats posed by adversaries.
