In a bid to revolutionize the nation’s transportation infrastructure and bolster economic growth, the Indian government is undertaking a series of ambitious motorway projects set to transform connectivity across the country. With an eye on completing several major expressways in the coming years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an extensive road network akin to that of the United States is on the verge of becoming a reality, according to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. Here is a list of 11 most important expressways that are proposed to be built
Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: This motorway will be 1350 km long overall and be anticipated to cost Rs 1 lakh crore. Twelve helipads would be located along the route from Delhi to Mumbai, making it a first.
Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway: This project, which spans 701 kilometres, is expected to cost the government Rs 55,000 crore. Maharashtra will link Nagpur, Nashik, Kalyan, Aurangabad, Shirdi, Bhiwandi, and Wardha.
Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway: This project’s initial phase is estimated to cost Rs 25,000 crore. The project will be about 650 km long, with the main motorway being 550 km long, according to Magicbricks.
Ganga Expressway: The 594-kilometre-long Ganga Motorway project is enormous. The estimated price for the route is Rs 40,000 crore.
Raipur-Vishakhapatnam Expressway: This project has a length of over 464 kilometres and a total cost of Rs 20,000 crore. The project’s completion date is 2025.
Purvanchal Expressway: This motorway is anticipated to be 340 kilometres long. The project is anticipated to cost a total of Rs 22,496 crore.
Bangalore-Chennai Expressway: This route’s length, estimated to cost Rs 17,000 crore, is 260.85 km.
Ahmedabad Dholera Expressway: This 109 km-long motorway, which would cost roughly Rs 3,000 crore, will provide much-needed connectivity to the Dholera Special Investment Region.
Dwarka Express: The 29 km long Dwarka Motorway is anticipated to lessen traffic on NH-8. Cost estimates range from Rs. 8,662 crore to Rs. Every day, 3 lakh passengers will use it.
Narmada Express: Amarkantak will be connected to Jabalpur, Alirajpur, and Dindori in Madhya Pradesh via the Narmada Motorway. The project, which will cost Rs 31,000 Cr, was suggested by the National Highways Authority of India.
