The Cyber criminals cheated a highly educated man of 10 lakhs by promising that he could earn lakhs of rupees per month by ‘liking’ and ‘following’ videos on a YouTube channel. The Hudkeshwar police have registered a case based on the complaint.
Ulhas Landge (38), a resident of New Narsala, owns a fabrication business. His business is also doing well. One day a message came on his WhatsApp saying each like would get 50 rupees. The more likes you get, the more your earnings will increase. Apart from this, they pretended that he could earn lakhs of money after completing the target.
The cybercriminal sent him a link, which the victim then sent to different groups. Immediately after that, Landge got Rs.350. After receiving the amount, he believed the claim of earning lakhs through just liking posts. The cybercriminals had lured him into their net by sending money. Then the perpetrators lured him to send lakh rupees, promising that he would get five lakh rupees in return. So the victim sent three lakh rupees from his account.
He gradually deposited an amount of ten lakhs in the accused’s bank account. However, he did not get any benefit or receive the promised amount this time. When questioned by Landge, they said, ‘You have not completed the target. So you cannot be given benefits; you complete the task and will get 18 lakh rupees. Only then did the victim realize he had been cheated. Based on his complaint, the Hudakeshwar police have registered a case and started anĀ investigation against the accused.
